REV. sHEMAIAH STRICKLAND

Pastor

The Reverend Shemaiah Strickland, a native of Atlanta, Georgia, is the pastor of the Nottingham Myers Christ UMC Cooperative Parish. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Morgan State University in 2013 and began her career in law before answering her call to ministry in 2015. She went on to receive her Master of Divinity from Wesley Theological Seminary in 2021 and was ordained a Full Elder in the United Methodist Church in May 2024.

With a passion for guiding people into a deeper relationship with God, Rev. Strickland believes that "Everyone in life has a purpose." She is committed to helping individuals discover and walk in their God-given purpose. She also serves as the Chairperson for the Leadership Development Committee for the Baltimore-Washington Conference of the UMC. In January, she will begin her doctoral studies at United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio. When not engaged in ministry, she enjoys listening to live music, singing, and traveling back home to Atlanta to spend time with her family.
